Made in Finland – official Finnish emojis

Not long ago it was written in the news that spread all over the world, that Finland is the first country that officially releases country specific emojis.

Well here they are for everyone all over the world to download. There are 32 emojis in total. You can find them at website, which is published by the Finland Promotion Board and produced by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Department for Communications.

As the one and only, original and official Santa Claus lives in the Finnish Lapland (yes, this is true) there is at the site a Christmas calendar where you can daily see the explanation for todays introduced emoji. You can download the daily emoji as an image or there is a link where you can download all the emojis at once. Plus there is a link to Google Play to download the app.

Todays emoji was and I quote:

The feeling of sunless days.
Finnish winters are long and dark. In Lapland, the sun doesn’t rise at all between December and January. In Finnish, this sunless period is called ‘kaamos’.

So we were the first and proud of it 🙂
