Finally it is here, Windows 10 Mobile has arrived. So now it is time to upgrade your Windows Phone 8.1 to the newest and brightest version.

First check that your phone is on the following list of phones that can be upgraded to Windows 10:

• Lumia 430
• Lumia 435
• Lumia 532
• Lumia 535
• Lumia 540
• Lumia 635 (1GB RAM)
• Lumia 636 (1GB RAM)
• Lumia 638 (1GB RAM)
• Lumia 640
• Lumia 640 XL
• Lumia 730
• Lumia 735
• Lumia 830
• Lumia 930
• Lumia 1520

And if your phone is on the list, the next step is to download the Upgade Advisor from Windows Store using your phone.

Two useful tips before continuing: 1) use Wifi to download, it’s much faster and 2) keep your phone plugged in for full charge during the installation.

After installing the app, open it and follow the instructions on the screen

Remember to tick the box “Enable Windows 10 Upgrade“. And after you have done all that go on your phone to Settings -> Update & security -> Phone update.

Now it should find the new Windows 10 Mobile and upgrade your phone to it. Remember, just in case you could backup your data, but the upgrade does not wipe your phones data and pictures. They will be there when the upgrade has been completed.

I recommend to upgrade, it will be a lot, lot, lot better than the Windows Phone 8.1 version. There are already tons of new Windows 10 apps for your phone. Just follow my TGITF column, where I list all the new and interesting Windows 10 Universal apps (universal means that they work both on your Windows 10 Mobile phone and on Windows 10 PC/tablet).
